IPCNS and other Nova Scotia Standards & Guidelines
Guidelines and best practices documents created by IPCNS are intended as a reference for the Nova Scotia Health AuthorityIWK and other health care organizations and sectors to utilize when developing their related policies and procedures. We recommend these guidelines be used to harmonize infection prevention and control practices throughout NS. It is common for patients/clients/residents to utilize more than one facility and cross health care boundaries, and staff often work in more than one facility. A consistent approach will reduce confusion and promote a better understanding by everyone of the required practices.
Utilizing these evidence based guidelines, infection prevention and control programs need to develop policies and protocols that are tailored to their specific facility needs, and the patients/residents/clients they serve.
